Pink White
From Guppy Wiki
Pink White (Luke Roebuck picture)
History
The origins of the strain are controversial. The first Pink White were introduced at the World Guppy Contest in Osaka in 1996 from the Western world. The Japanese breeders of this strain have said that is where they acquired the first Pink Whites. And the visitor from the Western world who was present at that contest was Ed Chiasson. He says its origins trace back to southern Europe, perhaps Portugal. Ed Chiasson brought the original Pink Whites to Osaka. He acquired them from Manny Cecilio who summers in Portugal. According to Ed, Manny found the first pink whites in a Portugal pet store.
Description
Pink Whites are also called True Pinks. Europeans tend to distinguish American Pinks (also called Pingus) from what they call "True Pinks." American Pinks tend to have a black spot at the base of the peduncle. Since American Pinks were probably imported from Europe, the distinction may be arbitrary and an artifact of a cross to another American strain.
The white area of the peduncle seen in the top photo really defines this guppy.
